Crafts & knitting
If you enjoy knitting, why not make a beanie hat or a hand puppet to put a smile on a chid’s face? Or, if you prefer sewing, make a bag or some finger puppets for a child in need. Simply put the gifts you’ve made along with other gifts in a shoe box and take it to your local warehouse, church or drop off point.
You could use our specially made pattern for hand puppets. The clowns were popular last year and many knitters got creative and made zebras, penguins and many other animals from this one basic pattern. We hope to have many more knitted puppets in shoe boxes this year.
Playing with a glove puppet has been found to be very therapeutic for a child suffering from trauma or isolation – the puppet becomes a little friend to talk to. The puppets are also a great way for the children to find creative ways of making their friends smile!
